Pakistan vs New Zealand - 2nd T20 Auckland

#1
Official match thread for today's match is here. We are in the same situation as before with a do or die match. What should be Pakistan's strategy to win this game?

Match: 2nd T20
Date and Time: 25 Jan 2018 11:00 PST
Venue: Eden Park, Auckland

How Pakistan team is feeling right now can be judged from following:

Quote:After losing the ODI series, a journalist asked Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur what the first thought on his mind was. "When is our flight?" replied Arthur instantly. That's the kind of gallows humour prevailing in New Zealand among the Pakistan camp. Nearly a month-long tour has turned into a miserable campaign, with Pakistan now having lost 13 consecutive completed international matches against New Zealand.

Eden Park is a small ground, where even mis-hits can comfortably clear the rope. The pitch may offer assistance to the spin bowlers, but batsmen will fancy their chances after a low-scoring game in Wellington. Rain is not expected to play a part.

New Zealand (probable): 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Colin Munro, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Glenn Phillips (wk), 5 Tom Bruce, 6 Ross Taylor, 7 Colin de Grandhomme, 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Ben Wheeler/Seth Rance, 10 Trent Boult, 11 Ish Sodhi

Pakistan (probable): 1 Ahmed Shehzad, 2 Fakhar Zaman, 3 Babar Azam, 4 Haris Sohail, 5 Sarfraz Ahmed (capt & wk), 6 Shadab Khan, 7 Aamer Yamin, 8 Faheem Ashraf, 9 Mohammad Nawaz, 10 Hasan Ali/Rumman Raees, 11 Mohammad Amir

  1. If batting first then score at least 170
  2. Stop losing wickets cheaply. Not every ball especially going outside has to be played. I know this is not test cricket but still.
  3. Change batting order
  4. Ground is small, need a lot of sixes

I think this recent performance of ours is due to mental block than lack of talent. Granted some players are shit but still losing so many games in a row can wreck havoc with your confidence. Even more so that T20 unlike ODI is a different game and has different strategies just like ODI is completely different from Tests but still we seem to be not able to recovering due to constant loses in ODI.

Pakistan has won the toss and elected to bat. Both Fakhar and Shehzad are opening. Hopefully they give us a good start.

It's 107/2 now but that's ok. Both openers have done their part. But don't forget that this is a small ground and hitting boundaries is very easy so NZ will do the same. Need some early wickets even at the expense of some runs to put pressure.

Looks like Pakistan will easily get 170 like I said (of course it is subject to no f**k ups)

Innings over and it's 201/4 which is a decent score.
