Richie Richardson appointed as match referee for Pakistan tour

ICC has just announced appointment of Richie Richardson as match referee for Pakistan for upcoming World XI tour. He is the former West Indian captain and this is the first time since 2009 that a match referee has been appointed.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the following statement:

Quote:The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced that the International Cricket Council has appointed Sir Richie Richardson as match referee for the Independence Cup to be played between the World XI and Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium on 12, 13 and 15 September.

It is interesting to note that Zimbabwe was the first international team to visit Pakistan in 2015 after the 2009 attacks but that tour was without any international match referee appointed by ICC so we used local umpires and referee.

This appointment is a good sign of things to come in future.

Nice development. I really liked Richie with that ridiculous big hat he used to wear.
